The First Talk Process For Children

We Provide a safe and supportive environment to help your child reach their full potential. Our licensed mental health counsellors are committed to providing the highest quality of care and have the expertise to help your family.

The first step in the process of counselling for your child is an in-depth interview with the therapist. This 50-minute session provides an opportunity for you, and/or your partner, to discuss any important details about your child’s social, biological, and psychological well-being. Our counsellors will also ask questions to better understand your child’s behavioural responses, communication style and self-perception, in order to come up with the best treatment plan. We take into account all aspects of your child’s life including diet, sleep patterns, energy levels, relationships with family, friends, teachers, and siblings.

Once the initial interview is complete, the therapist will conduct a separate 50-minute session with your child. We understand that family schedules can be busy, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. This follow up session is where the process of psychotherapy begins.
